Between 2021 and 2022, IFOTRODE implemented community-based tungiasis control in three parishes of Ngoleriet sub-county, Napak District. The intervention brought together repeated treatment of people and affected animals, health promotion and support from local community structures.

The project report records 6,733 residents examined and 3,865 treated at least once. Reported tungiasis prevalence declined from 62.8% to 5.7%, while associated walking difficulties declined from 464 residents to five.

These figures describe the intervention period and do not establish current prevalence or complete elimination of infection. The experience demonstrates the potential of coordinated community delivery. Continued access to treatment and support through local health structures remain important programme considerations.
